Planning Your "Cute as a Button" Themed Baby Shower

Here are some ideas for planning and coordinating your "Cute as a Button" themed baby shower.

- Centerpieces: Fill tall vases with buttons of all different shapes and sizes! If you're sticking to a specific color scheme, like blue, try to find buttons in many different shades of it. But a great gender neutral color scheme is one like shown in the photo frame above - go crazy with a bunch of different pastel colors. Yellow, purple, blue and green look great together and are perfect for a boy or a girl. Tie the tops of each vase with a big bow and voila - cheap, simple, do it yourself centerpieces! Plus, you can sprinkle the extra buttons on your table settings.

- Games: Fill up a jar with buttons and have guests guess how many are in it upon their arrival. Whoever wins can either win the jar full of buttons, or a door prize of your choice. You can also arrange baby shower bingo, and use buttons as the chips. Another fun idea (though it involves a bit of counting) is to ask guests to bring at least one item of clothing containing buttons or snaps. After collecting all of the clothing, count how many buttons or snaps there are altogether, and whoever guesses the closest wins a door prize.

- Food: Unfortunately there isn't too much you can do to design your food to match your button theme, except for maybe some circular crackers. But you can decorate cookies, cupcakes and your cake to look like buttons. Yum!
