One of the most adorable themes for a baby shower is a tea party theme. One of the great things about this
baby shower theme is that it can be used for a baby girl or boy. Your
tea party baby shower will be delicate, trendy and cute! Not to mention we offer the cutest tea themed baby showers to use!
Below are some helpful tips to assist you in planning your
tea themed baby shower.
Invitations
With any baby shower, your invitations should definitely reflect the theme it will be hosted as. A great idea is to cut the invitations into the shape of a teapot - perhaps add some lace detailing, and a cute saying or quote on it. This will give your guests an idea of what the shower is going to be like, and to dress accordingly. Perhaps you'll want all of the ladies to wear dresses, just like you used to dress up for your pretend tea party as a child.
Venue
A tea party is a great theme idea because you can basically work with the decorations and table settings in any location. If the weather is warm, try hosting the tea party outside. Gather a few tables and set them up around a yard, deck or patio with chairs. Even if the chairs and shapes of the tables are mismatched, you'll still be able to create a comfortable and pretty feel with table cloths, flowers and centerpieces.
Decorations
A tea party should have a soft and elegant look, so you're going to want to lean towards light, pastel colors. Hang light pink, blue, green or yellow streamers and blow up balloons to match. If you can afford it, try to decorate with flowers as well. The flowers don't have to be huge and over the top - a tall, thin vase with a couple of daisies in it or a bud vase with a single flower in it at each place setting will add a pretty touch.
Centerpieces
The centerpieces are going to be the center of attention at your party, since everyone will be sitting enjoying their tea for most of the time. You don't have to go out and spend a fortune on the materials. It's amazing how a low budget and a visit to an antique shop, thrift store, or home good supply store can help you to create beautiful centerpieces. Large vases or giant teacups full of wildflowers, an antique bird cage, a tray with an ancient tea set, or pretty candle holders burning candles to create a soft glow are all great ideas. Your centerpieces should add some of the final touches to your tables.
Food
You absolutely don't need to serve a full-course, gourmet meal at your tea party. Serving fresh, light foods that your guests can nibble on will be your best choice. Finger sandwiches, cheese and crackers, frozen hor'dourves, biscuits, fresh fruits and vegetables are plenty to keep your guests satisfied. You can display them pretty too: in baskets, on pretty plates or platters, even on tiered stands. Don't forget about dessert: a cupcake tier looks and tastes good, and you can serve pie and cookies too.
Tea
The main attraction, of course! Definitely plan on serving different types of tea. English breakfast, green, and citrus blends will give your guests the opportunity to sample different kinds. Try serving them in various pots; you'll be able to brand each pot with a different type of tea. Like everything else at the party, the pots, cups, dishes and saucers don't have to match! Be sure to set out milk, sugar, and lemon slices on the tables, too.
